Special Olympics Washington provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. The Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign for Special Olympics is the movement’s largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. The LETR Campaign has raised more than $38 million for Special Olympics Programs around the world. More than 85,000 law enforcement personnel carried the “Flame of Hope” across 35 nations.
